There are many ways to make money streaming your video games
You can choose the best platform for you because there are so many options
Streaming onto TikTok isn’t as simple as other platforms, but it can be done. The first thing you need is software to go live with. Our favorite option is OBS because you can go live on many different platforms without needing to relearn the software if you decide to switch.
There are benefits and drawbacks to streaming directly onto TikTok
It takes some time to build up a large enough following to get paid for views and start getting donations.
Since TikTok isn’t made to support full-time streamers, there are not as many options to get paid as other platforms like Twitch
You can also stream on TikTok once a week and direct people to a different platform for all others
Live streaming does have benefits on TikTok though
TikTok likes to push out your live stream more than other videos
This will help you find more new viewers
Especially because there aren’t a lot of streamers doing it
TikTok also pushes out your regular videos more when you are live
So your other videos will get a boost in views as well
Can you stream directly onto TikTok?
Yes, you can stream directly onto TikTok, but there is a process
The first thing you need is software that will connect your screen to your TikTok live
We recommend OBS because they connect to every platform
If you ever decide to stream on more than one platform or switch from TikTok, you don’t have to relearn the streaming software because OBS does it all
OBS is also free so that is a huge benefit
OBS has many features and is very simple to learn
The first thing you need to do is set up an OBS account
- Download OBS
- Install OBS
- Launch OBS
Once you have OBS all set up on your computer, now we need to connect it to your TikTok
**NOTE: You can only go live on TikTok after you have 1000 followers. This will not work yet if you don’t have those followers**
To begin streaming on TikTok with OBS, you need to generate an RTMP URL and a streaming key
This will let OBS broadcast your stream on TikTok
To do this, you need to:
- Launch your TikTok app and tap the “+” icon at the bottom
- Select the live option
- Select “Cast to PC”
- This will generate the RTMP key and streaming key
Once you have those keys, you need to:
- Launch OBS
- Add video and audio sources for your stream in the main interface
- Go to settings and find a section for stream
- Select a custom streaming server
- Add the RTMP key and streaming key that you got from your TikTok
It is a process but you do get to stream live on TikTok!
Can I stream on Twitch and other platforms at the same time?
One of the options that OBS gives users is to stream on more than one platform at a time
Keep in mind that this would use a lot of internet and computer power
If you are a Twitch affiliate, this is not an option
One of the rules in the rules and conditions for being a Twitch affiliate is that you cannot use your live stream on any other platform for 24 hours
That means that if you wanted to edit your stream for posting regular videos on YouTube or TikTok, you need to wait 24 hours after the end of your stream to stays in complience
That also means that you cannot stream on TikTok or YouTube at the same time as you do on Twitch
If you aren’t an affiliate, that rule doesn’t apply to you
But being a Twitch affiliate iis the goal so you can start making money when you stream
If you want to build your TikTok and YouTube faster using live streaming, then you can stream on those two platforms at the same time once a week
Then you can stream on Twitch alone the rest of the time
Or change the schedule
As long as you aren’t pairing an affiliate Twitch account with anything else and you aren’t using the videos you get from streaming on Twitch anywhere else for 24 hours
If you want to go live on multiple platforms at the same time, check out this post
What are the pros and cons of streaming directly to TikTok?
There are benefits and drawbacks to streaming on TikTok
Whether or not it is worth your time depends on you and your goals
Benefits:
Some of the benefits of live streaming your game onto TikTok is that you will stand out more
There aren’t a lot of people doing it right now so TikTok is more likely to recommend your live stream to more people that are on GamerTok
That means more exposure for you and your channel
Another benefit is that your other videos get a boost when you go live on TikTok
So the videos that you have posted recently will be shown to more people
When viewers see those videos, your profile will show that you are live
If someone likes the video that popped on their FYP, then they will probably join your live stream as well
The more exposure you can get, the faster you will grow
This means that you can build your TikTok to the point that you get paid for views, or you can get donations from viewers
If you use TikTok as a way to get more traffic to your Twitch or other streams, then you get more traffic to your profile and you can talk about your other streams while you are live on TikTok
Drawbacks:
Going live on TikTok is not streamlined
You have to go through the process that I walked you through above, but that’s after you qualify to go live
TikTok only allows users to go live after they have 1000 followers
So if you are new, you cannot go live yet
Since you cannot go live, you will not be able to get clips from live streams to post on TikTok to gain followers
That means you’ll either need to go live somewhere else or you need to record your gameplay without you streaming until you get the 1000 followers
In addition, it is a little harder to make money on TikTok in the beginning
You require a lot more followers before making money compared to a platform like Twitch
Possible solutions:
A possible solution is to go live once or twice a week on TikTok alone and talk about your channel on Twitch
That way you get the follower and view boost of going live without being only on TikTok
Then you can go live the rest of the week on Twitch so you can get paid more
If you are a Twitch affiliate (getting paid on Twitch) do not go live on both at the same time
Just make sure that you are going live more on your main platform
Getting the TikTok traffic is great, but they need somewhere to go where you will make money
